A local animal rescue group is now trying to find homes for a couple of young dogs that were discovered with severe burns earlier this week.
It's believed someone poured a flammable liquid, boiling water or hot oil onto the dogs in an area of rural Alberta.
"We are very disturbed to ... see these injuries, seeing that it's likely intentional," said Deanna Thompson with the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society.
The Alberta SPCA and police have been asked to investigate.
"I have no idea why anyone would consider hurting an animal in this way," said Thompson. "They are completely innocent and wonderful animals that do not deserve to be treated this way."
