Police are investigating a frightening incident in northeast Calgary after roughly 30 bullet casings were found in the community of Monterey Park Saturday morning.
Officers were called to a home in the 7000 block of California Boulevard at 10:30 a.m. MT after a woman discovered numerous bullet holes in the side of her house, as well as spent rounds inside the home.
Several other homes, businesses and a nearby church were also struck by bullets.
Police flooded the area and were able to locate the spot where they believe the shots were fired from.
"We have some significant public safety concerns regarding this and we want everyone in this ... community to check their houses for us," said Acting Staff Sgt. Paul Wozney.
Officers are going door to door to ensure the safety of homeowners and they are looking for information about the attack.
Wozney says police believe there were multiple shots fired by several firearms of different calibres.
"We do believe there was more than two shooters involved in this," he said.
Police don't know what time the gunfire took place, but say it happened sometime between 9 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. on Saturday morning.
