Three people died New Year's Day 2009 at the Bolsa Vietnamese Restaurant in Calgary. (CBC)Hovanesian pleaded guilty last year to kidnapping Aaron Bendle and accessory after the fact to murder. He was originally charged with three counts of first-degree murder but agreed to plead guilty to the lesser charges.
The shooting in Calgary’s southeast was part of an escalating feud between rival gangs Fresh Off The Boat and FOB Killers.
Sanjeev Mann, Aaron Bendle and bystander Keni Su’a were shot and killed at the Vietnamese restaurant. Bendle had been kidnapped as bait to lure Mann, who was his associate and a known gang member, to the restaurant.
Three other men have been sentenced to life for their roles in the triple slaying. Nathan Zuccherato and Michael Roberto were found guilty of three counts of first-degree murder. Real Honorio was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder.
