Calgary police say they made a discovery they did not expect after finding two children in a home alone in Erin Woods. (CBC)
Calgary police are investigating after two young children were found alone at a southeast home where officers also discovered a grow-op.
"It was a 911 call at a residence," said Acting Insp. Rick Tuza.
"When we called the residence back, there was a young child on the line. The responding members spoke to the child when they got there and determined that there was a 12-year-old child along with a 10-year-old child alone in the residence. And when they checked the residence they also found a marijuana grow operation."
Tuza says there were no adults at the home in the 100 block of Erin Green Mews.
Social services was called in to look after the children, and there is no word from police on the size of the grow-op.
