The body of a skier killed Friday in eastern B.C. has been recovered, police say.

The man was skiing out of bounds with a group near Greely Lake, outside Revelstoke, when he and two others were caught in an avalanche.

Members of the group managed to dig out two of their companions but when they got to the third, he had already died, police said.

RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said the man’s body was safely removed Saturday morning by Revelstoke Search and Rescue.

Moskaluk said the name of deceased, a German national, is not being released until Monday while authorities notify other of his family members.

A German skier also died Monday in an avalanche on Jumbo Glacier, about 160 kilometres east of Revelstoke.

The avalanche danger on mountains across much of B.C. is rated as high, with human-triggered avalanches considered likely, according to the Canadian Avalanche Centre.
