Police have one person in custody in connection with a double hit-and-run crash in northwest Calgary on Wednesday morning.
A woman in her mid-50s was killed at Sandstone Drive and Berkshire Boulevard N.W. as she was walking in a crosswalk just before 7 a.m. MT.
Seconds after being hit by one car she was struck by another, police said.
Officials believe her body came to rest roughly 40 metres from the crosswalk.
Both vehicles left the scene.
At around 7:45 a.m., a man called police to turn to himself in. He was arrested and charges are pending, police said.
His red Ford Taurus station wagon was seized and is being examined by investigators.
Police are still looking for the second driver. That person is believed to have been driving a dark-coloured sedan that will have damage to the lower part of the front bumper, police said.
The victim has been identified and officials were in the process of notifying her family.
Anyone with information is being asked to call 403-266-1234.
