The assault trial of former C-F-L Calgary Stampeders running back Joffrey Reynolds has been adjourned until Feb. 20.

Reynolds took the stand in his own defence today and testified that former girlfriend Kaitlin Ward was in a jealous rage in July of

2012.

That led to an altercation where he was charged with assault causing bodily harm, common assault and breaking and entering.

Ward has testified that Reynolds was in her condo without permission and strangled and choked her when she demanded that he

leave.

Reynolds says he and Ward had moved into together and that she began hitting him and screaming because he had cheated on her in the

past.

He also denied hurting her and said he was only trying to restrain her to calm her down.

The Crown says Ward should have been given a chance to respond to Reynold's version during cross-examination and should be recalled to

the witness stand.

Judge Brian Stevenson says he needs a couple of weeks to review the transcripts before deciding if it is necessary.
