The RCMP Major Crimes Unit in Alberta is asking the public for information on the whereabouts of a homicide victim's car the week he died.
On Jan. 12, police went to a home in east Airdrie to check on 40-year-old Garland Curtis, who hadn't been seen by anyone for an extended period of time.
Officers found him dead, and days later announced that the cause had been ruled a homicide. Curtis' vehicle was missing, and tips from the public led police to it on Jan. 21.
It was abandoned in Olds, Alta., which is 60 kilometres north of Airdrie.
The Airdrie RCMP is now asking the public to help create a timeline for the vehicle's movements, which are thought to be limited to the area between Airdrie and Olds.
Cpl. Darrin Turnbull, media relations officer for RCMP Southern Alberta, said police are specifically seeking information on the car's movements between Jan. 9, a Wednesday, and Jan. 15, a Tuesday.
Police are seeking information on recent sightings of the vehicle, specifically between Jan. 9 and Jan. 15. (RCMP)"Also, if any residents of Olds, Alberta, happen to have a security surveillance system that records video footage of any roadway, investigators would like to view their video footage from the same dates," Turnbull said in a written statement.
The vehicle is a 1994 purple Saturn SL2 four-door sedan, with Alberta licence plate EGF166.
