RCMP have charged a 22-year-old Calgary man with impaired driving in connection with a deadly crash near Cochrane.
On Thursday night, 17-year-old Brandon Thomas died after his Subaru was hit by a pickup truck.
His cousin, Jessi Christensen, called Brandon "selfless and kindhearted."
Police say the truck was driving south in the northbound lane of Highway 22, about three kilometres south of Cochrane.
The truck sideswiped two oncoming vehicles before hitting Thomas' Subaru head-on.
One of the other vehicles rolled several times, sending a female passenger to hospital.
"We are continuing our investigation and Cochrane RCMP will be out in force day and night with checkstops. Hopefully we don't have to meet anyone else or go do an awful notification to let someone else know a love one's perished," said Sgt. Audrey Robinson on Friday.
Charges laid
Ryan Jordan Gibson faces numerous charges, including impaired driving causing death.
Gibson will make his first court appearance on Dec.18.
