The three people charged with murdering Ryan Lane made a brief appearance in court Thursday morning.

Sheena Cuthill, her husband Tim Rempel and Rempel's brother Wilhelm Rempel appeared together for the first time.

All three are facing first-degree murder charges in the death of 24-year-old Ryan Lane.

Cuthill is the mother of Lane’s daughter. Police say they believe his death was the result of a custody issue.

They say Lane was lured to a parking lot on Country Hills Boulevard northwest in February and murdered within 24 hours. Lane's remains were found in a remote location northwest of Beiseker in late June.

Cuthill appeared in person, while the Rempel brothers appeared by closed-circuit television from the Calgary Remand Centre.

Tim Rempel's lawyer, Allan Fay, says the defence is waiting for more information from the Crown.

“None of us have been provided with any disclosure relating to this matter so we have no idea of what the Crown's case against our clients is,” Fay said.

Jim Lutz, who is representing Willhelm Rempel, said he spoke to the his client this morning.

"Of course he's concerned about the allegations, but he's looking forward to having the chance to fight the charges,” Lutz said.

The Crown says Cuthill and the Rempel brothers could be tried together.

All three suspects will be back in court Dec. 21.
