The family of Ryan Lane says the man was not in a custody battle and that he had visitation rights to his child.
His parents, Bruce Lane and Lorraine Jackson, spoke to reporters Friday.
Police announced Thursday they located the skeletal remains of the 24-year-old, but wouldn’t say exactly when or where they were found.
Lane was last seen in the early morning hours of Feb. 7 near Country Hills Boulevard in the city's northwest.
“Ryan will never get a chance to know his daughter," Lorraine Jackson said, reading from a statement.
"He was much too young to die.”
Lane’s parents went on to call the alleged murder “an act of greed.”
Staff Sgt. Grant Miller says police are expecting to lay first-degree murder charges against two men and one woman.
"We continue to put the final pieces together — I am sure you can appreciate this is a very complicated case," Miller told reporters Thursday.
