Mayor Naheed Nenshi is one of the lucky Calgarians who will be cheering on the Calgary Stampeders in Toronto come Sunday.

Nenshi says he's a huge football fan, but says getting to Toronto and back is going to be a struggle.

“Late at night I managed to get one seat back, on a flight out of Hamilton, how I’m going to get from the game to Hamilton in a six-hour time period, well, we’ll figure that out later,” Nenshi said.

Most flights to Toronto are already sold out; however, airlines are doing what they can to accommodate the demand.

Air Canada is selling extra seats by using bigger planes for the Toronto route and WestJet say it's adding one extra flight to and from the city.

"They were selling at an accelerated rate. The decision to put on those additional flights was based on what we saw, and clearly we knew there would be additional demand for an additional aircraft if we could find the spare aircraft to do it,” said WestJet spokesperson Robert Palmer.

Sunwest Aviation is sending four mid-sized charter flights to and from Toronto as well.

Meanwhile, tickets to the big game are being sold on classified websites for up to $1,000 per ticket.
