Travis Whitney's cocktail. (Travis Whitney)Grey Cup Sunday is a great time to imbibe (responsibly, of course!) while you cheer on your favourite team.
CBC Calgary asked Travis Whitney, cocktail creator at the new Bar C Restaurant and Lounge on 17th Avenue S.W. to create a special drink that captures the excitement and energy around the Stamps' run to the Cup.
His goal? "I wanted to create a cocktail that would be great for both men and women."
Here's his recipe for you to try:
In a shaker glass half filled with ice, combine:
- 1 ounce Crown Royal rye whiskey
- 1 ounce Grey Goose pear vodka
- A dash of Angostura bitters
- 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
- A squeeze of a 3/4" wedge of lime
Stir and pour ingredients into a pre-chilled pint glass. Add one bottle of Fruli strawberry beer (Belgium), and top with ice.
Lightly stir. Garnish with three small slices of pear speared with wooden skewer.
Enjoy!
