Alberta's minister of tourism and parks says there will not be any user fees for cross-country ski trails in Kananaskis Country.

The idea was suggested last week at a budget meeting as a way to offset grooming expenses.

It can cost up to $250,000 a year to groom the 147 kilometres of trails.

But Alberta minister of Tourism, Parks and Recreation Christine Cusanelli says she's heard from Albertans about the fees and she says encouraging healthy lifestyles is a priority for her government.
