The Calgary International Airport is slowly getting back to normal after dozens of flights were cancelled Monday due to post-tropical storm Sandy wreaking havoc throughout the eastern United States.
Jennifer Sanford with WestJet airlines says their flight schedule should be completely back to normal by Wednesday.
“Well, I'd say that we're cautiously optimistic," Sanford said.
We continue to monitor the weather and of course, safety first and we'll do what is in the best interest of our guests."
About a dozen flights were cancelled Tuesday morning — including Katherine Zakariasen's flight to Mexico.
“I’m pretty disappointed…. It doesn't really seem they care," she said.
"I know there are lots of flights cancelled, but they could have been a little more accommodating. A little frustrating for sure."
"You only get so much time off work every year, so it'd be nice to get out as quick as we can,” Zakariasen said.
Kyeoug Tak Kim says he has to wait over 12 hours at the airport to catch his plane.
"I can't sleep all day, so I'm just tired. I'm just waiting for my flight."
All airlines expect to be back to normal tomorrow or Thursday.
At least 38 people have died since post-tropical storm Sandy made landfall in the U.S. on Monday afternoon.
More than 7.6 million homes and businesses are without power and parts of the Eastern Seaboard, including New York City, are flooded.
