The latest citizen satisfaction survey finds Calgarians remain pretty pleased with their city.

But there's growing concern — particularly in south Calgary — about traffic.

Mayor Naheed Nenshi said the city's annual survey of 1,000 Calgarians shows one thing: consistency.

"You know, those of you looking for a bad news story, we'll talk about the weather, but really what we're looking at here is a remarkably good story," he said.

In the survey, 89 per cent said they are proud to be Calgarians and 74 per cent feel the city is going the right direction for the future.

Another 95 per cent gave city hall positive marks for overall performance.

But the issue of traffic, roads and infrastructure is the No. 1 concern of those who are unhappy and the unhappiest are in the southern part of the city.

Nenshi says traffic relief is coming for the south with the southeast ring road, four-car C-Trains and hopefully bus-only lanes to the deep southeast and for 14th Street southwest.

However, the city says all of those fixes are still two years away or more.
