Calgary police look to recruit more women officers
Currently less than 20% of the Calgary police force is women

Calgary police put the local media to the test today, at a conference aimed at getting more women to choose a career in law enforcement.
Media members could try out a variety of recruitment obstacles including a five-foot fence, body control station and a simulated hand cuffing station.
The event marks the centennial anniversary of women in Canadian policing.
“I think it’s a field like any other that we've evolved over time, showing that this is something women can do. It's not necessarily about your size or capacity," said Staff Sgt. Michelle Doyle.
Currently less than 20 per cent of the Calgary police force is women.
“It started as a male dominated field and it's slowly coming to with more females going in,” said 13-year member Constable Tracy Ophof.
Calgary police say they're hoping to attract more women to the force, but don't have any specific targets in mind.
