A local daycare says it’s concerned about the recent E. coli discovery in Alberta that has lead to beef recalls across the country.

Late Thursday night, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency suspended the operating licence of XL Foods at the Brooks plant that was linked to more than 250 beef products for fear of E. coli contamination.

“Every second day we are serving beef, definitely it was challenging,” said Samie Bhullar, the grocery shopper and cook at A Child's View Learning Centre in the northeast.

The centre feeds about 100 children a day.

Bhullar says she refuses to serve beef until the recall is over and now serves chicken instead.

Meantime, the Calgary Board of Education says the food supplies at 44 Calgary schools have been inspected and all deemed safe.
