Calgary breaks records with hottest summer in 40 years

The last time Calgarians experienced such a warm summer was back in 1970 when Led Zeppelin dominated the airwaves and floppy disks were considered high tech.
This past summer saw a lot of temperatures above 30 C, but it was the consistency of warm days that broke records.
Temperatures in June, July and August made it the warmest summer since 1970, but possibly more impressive was the weather in July, August and September also made it the warmest summer since 1881.
"When you look at the fact that we've been keeping records since 1881, I think Calgarians were well aware that we had a really nice summer, but I don't know if we realized that it was that nice," said Jodi Hughes, a weather specialist at CBC Calgary.
Hughes says this summer had 35 days above 25 C, which is 12 more days than usual.
