Extremely dry and windy conditions in southern Alberta have led to multiple fire bans in the area.
Rocky View County near Calgary declared a fire ban on Wednesday that applies to incinerators, charcoal briquettes, recreational camp fires and chimineas.
All burning permits are suspended.
"Essentially there are no open flames allowed, period, in Rocky View County," said Rocky View Fire Services Chief Ken McMullen.
"That's the crux of it — realistically we are trying to eliminate any possibility for a fire in the next while these conditions are as volatile as they are."
The exemptions to the county fire ban include camp stoves, liquid fuel barbecues and fires contained within approved facilities in designated areas.
