Calgary police are investigating a home invasion in the northeast that happened early Saturday morning.

Investigators say two car loads of men forced their way into a home along Costa Mesa Close N.E. around 4 a.m. MT.

Duty Insp. Paul Stacey says the people who broke into the home were looking for a specific person who wasn't there at the time.

But while the intruders were there, they did a lot of damage to the home.

“They smashed windows, they broke mirrors, they put holes in the walls and the lights all while they were looking for this person,” Stacey said. “When they discovered the person wasn’t there, they fled the scene.”

Stacey says several people were home at the time, but were not injured.

He says investigators believe the invasion was in connection to a domestic dispute.
