Canadian Strategy Group, a company that offers lobbying services to other companies that deal with governments, has hired former Alberta cabinet minister Ron Liepert.
Liepert left politics in the spring of 2012 after deciding not to run in the provincial election.
Conflict of interest rules state that he must wait one year before he can offer his services as a lobbyist to clients.
Hal Danchilla, Principal of Canadian Strategy Group, says the company is taking steps to ensure the rules are not broken.
"We certainly understand what the lobby registry rules are," said Danchilla Thursday.
Liepert will work out of the company's new Calgary office.
