Police in High River, Alta., stopped two Dodge Calibers this week for speeds of more than 200 kilometres per hour.

One of the cars was clocked on radar at 220 km/h and the other at 200 km/h on Monday night in an 80 km/h zone.

RCMP say both of the cars were driven by men from Calgary, who were given speeding summons for a mandatory court appearance in Okotoks, Alta., in October.

The incident has Alberta Sheriffs and RCMP reminding drivers that speed is a major factor in serious injury and fatal collisions.

They say the High River Integrated Traffic Unit will be targeting high-risk driving behaviors, like speeding and aggressive driving, over the Labour Day long weekend.

High River is located 63 kilometres south of Calgary.
