Outdoor gyms, or “adult playgrounds,” are rising up across the city in neighbourhood parks.
“It’s definitely a growing market, no doubt about it," says Eric Daniel, who works for Playground Guys.
“This one just went in about a month ago, brand new,” says Daniel, of a High River playground.
He says a growing number of his days are spent traveling the province building adult playgrounds.
“There is no membership, there's no times, you can come and go as you please, you don't have to wear any special equipment,” he says.
"It’s very easy for a beginner to come sit down and do a safe work out and a very effective workout.”
As far as safety standards go, there aren’t for this type of sports equipment
Matthew Blair, of Calgary parks, says his team is trying to come up with their own.
