Dozens of Garth Brooks fans who fell victim to fake tickets may get justice soon.
The show sold out in seconds when tickets went on sale in April, making it the biggest sellout in the history of the Calgary Stampede.
But dozens of people found out their tickets were fake when they tried to get into the show.
On Friday, Calgary police said investigators are closer to solving the scam they consider “highly sophisticated.”
"Right now, we're looking at three parties of interest; I don't want to call them suspects just yet,” said acting detective Rob Martel. “They're going through Kijiji, printing off e-tickets or actual hard copy tickets through Kijiji as well."
Martel said the fraudsters used the internet site Kijiji to sell realistic looking tickets that were actually fake. Some people paid for the tickets but never received them, while others bought from scalpers face to face.
In the end, dozens couldn’t get into the concert while tens of thousands of dollars went into the pockets of the fraudsters.
