An alleged Calgary gang member will find out Tuesday if he will remain in custody until he is deported.
Tien Ngoc Ho, 25, has been in jail since 2009 when police found seven loaded handguns hidden in his home and girlfriend's car.
On Friday, Ho finished serving his jail sentence and is now in the custody of the Canada Border Services Agency. He's facing a deportation order to his home country of Vietnam, where he has not lived since he was a preschooler.
Police say he is an associate of the gang FOB Killers. A longtime feud between that group and the FOB gang has resulted in at least 20 people being killed, police say. During Ho's detention review Monday, a border services officer produced a photograph of Ho in jail with several other alleged gang members, arguing that it served as proof Ho continues to associate with organized criminals.Ho's lawyer, Bjorn Harsanyi, proposed that his client be put under 24-hour house arrest at his parents' home.
A border services adjudicator will deliver her decision Tuesday afternoon.
