Emergency crews search the Bow River after reports that a man had been swept into the fast moving waters. (CBC)Emergency crews continue to search Thursday afternoon for what could be a man missing on the Bow River.
Fire and police began looking after a cyclist called 911 earlier Thursday morning to say a man swimming near the Langevin Bridge was swept toward the zoo and the rapids at Harvie Passage.
Emergency crews are getting more calls since Harvie Passage opened, said EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux
“We do see an increase for the number of calls for people who believe that there is concern for someone in the water." Brideaux adds the calls are often about someone in distress when in fact it's an experienced kayaker in the white water.
Nonetheless, he said emergency crews must respond to all calls.
A man died on Monday after his raft flipped in Harvie Passage.
