The boil water advisory for the three remaining northwest Calgary communities has been lifted.
Residents living in Nolan Hill, Sage Hill and Kincora are no longer required to boil their water, Mayor Naheed Nenshi tweeted early Tuesday.
The city is now asking residents to flush their pipes by running them for five minutes.
Residents should also wash tap aerators and screens in hot soapy water then disinfect them for 10 minutes in a solution of one part bleach to nine parts water.
Alberta Health Services recommended the measure last Thursday after cloudiness — high turbidity — was discovered in a portion of the drinking water distribution system.
The communities affected at the time included Nolan Hill, Sage Hill, Sherwood, Kincora, Hamptons and Hidden Valley.
Officials said the advisory is not a result of increased flow in the Bow and Elbow Rivers, but exactly how sediment entered the system isn’t known.
