An army reservist, and former CBC video journalist, is revealing his latest work in a documentary from inside an extremely dangerous part of Afghanistan.
In the film Desert Lions, Lt.-Col. Mike Vernon provides a unique perspective on the war in Afghanistan in 2010.

He takes viewers to a village deep in the heart of Taliban country where Canadian soldiers were mentoring Afghan soldiers.
It's a gritty look at the soldier's primitive living conditions and one deadly makeshift bomb explosion.
Vernon screened his latest documentary at the University of Calgary Friday afternoon.
