The Calgary Fire Department is warning people to stay off local waterways.

With warmer temperatures than usual, venturing out onto the ice of rivers, lakes and the reservoir is unsafe.

On Saturday evening, the department's aquatic rescue team helped a man who was stuck on the ice.

He'd been trying to retrieve his bicycle.

What appeared to be ski tracks and bicycle-tire tracks were also found on the Glenmore Reservoir on Sunday morning.

Calgarians are being asked to stay away from areas that are not designed or maintained for recreational use.

Emergency services is also asking people to keep their pets off the ice.
