City of Calgary releases Family Day hours

The City of Calgary is adjusting hours of operation for services and facilities on Family Day, which will be celebrated on Monday Feb. 20.
Family Day is a holiday on the third Monday of February observed in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario and gives workers the opportunity to spend more time with their families.
It was first held in Alberta in 1990 and is supposed to reflect the values of family and home that were important to the pioneers who founded the province.
City Administrative Offices
All administrative offices will be closed on Monday and will reopen on Tuesday.
Calgary Transit
Calgary Transit will provide a Sunday level of service on Family Day.

Residential Garbage Collection
Residential collection schedules and pickup at community recycling depots are not affected by the Family Day holiday.
Landfills
Spyhill Landfill Site and Shepard Landfill Site will be closed on Monday.
East Calgary Landfill Site, located on 17 Avenue and 68 Street S.E., will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Animal Services Centre
The centre, located at 2201 Portland Street S.E., is closed Monday.

The arenas listed below will be open on Family Day for free public skating from 1-2:30 p.m.:

- Rose Kohn/Jimmie Condon
- Shouldice
- Stew Hendry/Henry Viney
- Stu Peppard
Athletic Parks
All Athletic Parks are closed for the season.
Aquatics and Fitness Centres
The following pools will be open for a free public swim on Family Day from 1–2:30 p.m. and 3–4:30 p.m. (the half hour break will be waived if capacity permits):
- Bob Bahan
- Canyon Meadows
- Glenmore
- Renfrew
- Shouldice
- Sir Winston Churchill
Southland Leisure Centre
Will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and regular admission applies. Adult shinny hockey will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. with a public skate from 2-3:30 p.m.
Village Square Leisure Centre
Will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and regular admission applies. Adult shinny hockey will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. with a public skate from 12:30-2 p.m.
Art Centres
Wildflower Arts Centre is closed to the public for the Family Day weekend: February 18, 19 and 20.
North Mount Pleasant Arts Centre will be closed for the Family Day weekend.
City of Calgary Parks
Inglewood Bird Sanctuary Nature Centre will be closed to the public on Monday. The Inglewood Bird Sanctuary trails will be open from sunrise to sunset.
Natural Environment Parks trails are open from sunrise to sunset.
The Devonian Gardens are closed for renovations.
Other Facilities
Fort Calgary is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Heritage Park’s Historic Village is now closed. Heritage Town Square attractions are open year-round.
The Deane House will be closed on Monday.
Calgary Zoo is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
TELUS Spark science centre is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
