Psychologists are testifying this week at a hearing to determine whether Cory Bitternose should be declared a dangerous offender.
The convicted sex offender has a criminal history that dates back more than two decades.
It includes an assault of two women in Banff in 2008.
βThe question, ultimately, is whether Mr. Bitternose is capable of receiving treatment in the community after a definitive sentence,β said defence lawyer Pavel Milczarek.
A psychologist testified Tuesday that Bitternose appeared to welcome treatment and counselling while he was in custody.
But he wasn't sure Bitternose would be able to stick with it.
More expert witnesses are scheduled to testify this week and again in June to weigh in on whether Bitternose should be in prison indefinitely as a dangerous offender.
