Investigators searched this house on Memorial Drive after a woman died in hospital Friday. (Leighton Klassen/CBC)A Calgary woman has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the beating death of a woman who was her friend, Calgary police said Saturday.
The victim, a woman in her 50s, cannot be named until her identity is confirmed and her family notified, police said at a news conference Saturday.
She died from her injuries after being dropped off at the Peter Lougheed Centre early Friday morning. While no weapons were used, Calgary's seventh homicide victim of 2011 had injuries all over her body, police told reporters.
On Friday around 4 a.m. MT, a man driving a truck dropped off the injured woman and another woman at the hospital.
Police said the woman and the man were taken into custody for questioning. The man has since been released and has co-operated with the police investigation.
Information is being sought from the public on the movements of the white Ford F-150 truck with a blue zig-zag pattern that was used to drop off the victim. As part of their investigation, police searched a home on the 5800 block of Memorial Drive Friday.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers.
Diane Ruby Palmantier, 38, is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
