A cooking program promoting healthy eating has been renamed at the request of Kraft Canada.

The free course, previously called Kick the KD, teaches students how to avoid convenience foods and eat healthier.

Last month, Calgary food blogger Dan Clapson received a notice from Kraft Canada demanding the name be changed and any references to Kraft Dinner be removed from promotional materials, including his website, on penalty of legal action. The notice stated that Clapson used the trademark without permission.

Clapson announced a new name this week: Start from Scratch.

"I've had an overwhelming amount of support with this program, and am excited to bring it back in the fall, offering it both to University of Calgary and Mount Royal University students," he wrote on his blog.

Clapson offers the free, 10-week cooking program to 15 students at a time, teaching it at a downtown grocery store.
