Investigators obtained a search warrant and are combing a field near Beiseker after a body wrapped in a blanket was discovered Friday afternoon.
The body was found in a rural area near Highway 567 and Range Road 274 at around 3 p.m. MT.
Sgt. Patrick Webb of the Alberta RCMP said that investigators are proceeding under the assumption that the death is the result of a homicide, but are not yet releasing a description or the identity of the deceased.
"At this time, due to the need to secure evidence, there is not yet any identification or physical descriptors of the body," Webb said.
The body was taken to Calgary, and will undergo an autopsy later this week.
