Calgary police and Alberta gaming investigators say they've busted two southeast pool halls hiding illegal gambling operations.

On March 3, investigators with the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission and police officers searched the Trung Nguyen Coffee & Billiard at 4710 17th Ave. S.E.

They found three illegal gaming machines, 10 kilograms of marijuana, $22,980 in cash and various stolen property, said police in a news release Thursday.

A week later, a search of the Nua Khuya Midnight Billiards & Coffee Shop, at 1919 31 St. S.E., netted four illegal gaming machines

Three people from Calgary, aged 45 to 49, have been charged with various offences including keeping a common gaming house, and possession and operation of illegal gaming machines.

Two of them also face marijuana possession charges, and betting, pool-selling and book-making offences.
