Quick work by Calgary police has resulted in an arrest in connection with a hit and run outside a strip club Wednesday night.

A 32-year-old man was walking in the parking lot of the Big Easy on 32nd Street N.E. at about 7 p.m. when he was struck by a Kia Sedona minivan moving at high speed.

The man was thrown nearly five metres. His brother was among the witnesses.

The man is in hospital in serious, life-threatening condition.

The driver fled the scene without stopping. Police, working without a licence plate number, still managed to track a suspect to a residence in the neighbourhood of Palliser. A 24-year-old man was arrested at around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police are interviewing the suspect and say more details about the incident, including charges, are expected later Thursday.
