A man found dead in a northeast home was stabbed to death, police confirmed on Friday.

Barry Neil Godwin, 48, of Calgary, was found in the home in the 900 block of 38th Avenue N.E. on Tuesday after police responded to a call to check on someone's welfare.

An autopsy confirmed Godwin's cause of death, police said on Friday. Investigators believe the attack was targeted.

The homicide unit continues to investigate, but police released no further details.
