Dean Robert Zimmerman, a recently released sex offender in the Calgary area, is being sought by police. (Calgary Police Service) A warrant has been issued for a violent sexual offender who police say violated his prison release conditions.
Dean Robert Zimmerman, 44, is five feet eight inches tall, weighs 205 lbs and has brown eyes and a shaved head.
At the end of September, Calgary police issued a warning about Zimmerman's prison release because he had a history of violent sexual assaults against adult women.
Zimmerman spent more than three years in a federal prison for sexual assault involving a weapon and forcible confinement.
Under the conditions of his release, he was to be monitored for two years by a police high-risk offender program. He also had to stay at an approved address and be in that location at certain times.
"When officers conducted a check in the early hours of this morning [Wednesday] Zimmerman failed to present himself and is therefore in breach of his conditions," police said in a news release.
Police said anyone who sees Zimmerman shouldn't approach him, but contact police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
