Collin Wynter, 28, has been dubbed the 'Dancing Man' on YouTube after a trip to the Sasquatch music festival in George, Wash. (CBC) A Calgary man whose love of dancing has made him popular on YouTube is embracing the attention and hopes it helps encourage others to put a little spring in their step.
Collin Wynter, 28, was caught on camera last month at the Sasquatch music festival in George, Wash. Videos of the "dancing man" were uploaded to YouTube, where tens of thousands of people have watched his moves.
In the most popular one, re-posted several times, Wynter is dancing alone but his enthusiasm quickly draws of a crowd of dancers.
Wynter said his roommate warned him that people were taking videos and photos of him, but he wasn't concerned.
"I truly, firmly believe that music is the language of the soul and how we communicate that language is through dance," Wynter said. "I enjoy meeting new people. I enjoy having friends and stuff. I enjoy having a good time and I really just wanted to let myself go."
When he's not dancing with the masses, Wynter works as a server at a popular Calgary nightspot, Ming. His boss says customers love Wynter and so his brush with internet fame comes as no surprise.
"He's one of the genuine, all-around happy people that you'll find rarely these days," Edward Jones said.
Wynter's friends have sent the video to the Ellen DeGeneres Show in hopes of getting an him an invitation to appear.
Wynter said he is not a star, just the "three-legged cat that barks like a dog," and tomorrow someone else will be in the spotlight.
