Two Alberta men have been arrested after the RCMP busted a marijuana grow-op in a restaurant in Claresholm, about 130 kilometres south of Calgary.

A joint team of officers from forces including the RCMP, the Southern Alberta Marijuana Investigative Team and the Canada Border Services Agency found an "elaborate" operation inside Don's Restaurant, police said on Friday.

Police searched the establishment on March 6 and seized marijuana plants in various stages of maturation that police estimated were worth $300,000. They also seized a small number of cigarettes.

Two men, one from Claresholm and one from Calgary, have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.

The Chinese restaurant has been shut down.
