The inflated dome roof at the Calgary Soccer Centre's southeast location collapsed overnight under the weight of snow and ice.

The collapse happened around 3:30 a.m. Monday morning. A security company noticed a drop in the air pressure of the structure, which houses five soccer fields.

"It's flat on the ground," said general manager Perry Logan. "It completely came down due to a bunch of ice and snow coming down and ripping a big hole on the one end."

Logan said luckily no one was hurt, noting that children were playing soccer in the facility at 7000 48th St. S.E. until about 7 p.m. Sunday.

Engineers were at the site Monday afternoon.

Logan said the five-year-old structure was tested recently and has seen worse weather in the past.
