The charges against a man recently released from prison are mounting, with police alleging that in the span of a week he robbed a bank, brutally beat a woman, hijacked a truck, and abducted and sexually assaulted another woman.

Calgary police announced additional robbery, attempted kidnapping and assault charges against Michael Peter Nadolnick, 41, on Monday.

Police arrested Nadolnick in a northeast Calgary pub on Friday, less than 24 hours after issuing a warrant for a Nov. 10 abduction and assault in the neighbourhood of Monterey Park.

According to police, a 19-year-old was leaving her job through the back door at a dog-grooming business when a man with a gun grabbed her. He then hijacked a truck driven by a 68-year-old man and drove off with both victims in the vehicle, said police.

The woman said she was sexually assaulted several times, including at least once in front of the other man.

On Monday, police charged Nadolnick in two other incidents.

On the morning of Nov. 12, a man showed a gun to a teller at the First Calgary Savings at 510 16 Ave N.E, according to police. He demanded money and was given an undisclosed amount of cash.

Two days later, a man demanded a woman unloading a minivan at the 200 block of Doverglen Cres. S.E. give him her keys.

"The suspect then began to punch the woman in the face and at one point attempted to push her into the back of the van," police said in a release. "The pair continued to struggle and the woman fell to the ground, where the suspect smashed her head against the pavement. The man then ran from the area, leaving the injured woman on the ground."

She was taken to hospital with facial injuries.

Released from prison in September

Nadolnick has a lengthy criminal record, according to the National Parole Board.

He was convicted of eight break-ins in Calgary, Lac La Biche and Prince Albert, Sask., between 1985 and 1996. He served 32 months for a 1998 sexual assault and two months for a 2002 assault on a police officer in North Battleford, Sask.

Nadolnick was sentenced to six years in prison in 2003 for aggravated assault.

He was released from the Bowden Institution in May 2007 to a halfway house, rearrested a month later for failing to return to that halfway house, and released again into the Calgary area on Sept. 25. Under the terms of his bail, he can't associate with gangs or criminals and can't use drugs or alcohol.
