Man awaiting sex assault trial charged with internet luring

A Calgary man charged with luring a young girl through the internet almost two years ago has been arrested again for similar offences.
Matthew Allan Armstrong, 27, was arrested on Tuesday while using a computer and internet connection at an internet café in Calgary, police said Friday.
He's been charged with:
- Two counts of luring a person under the age of 16 for the purpose of facilitating sexual interference or sexual touching.
- One count of luring a person under the age of 16 for the purpose of facilitating an abduction.
- Four counts of breaching his bail conditions.
Armstrong was awaiting a trial that had been put over to July on prior charges that he lured, sexually assaulted and abducted a 13-year-old girl. He was free on $1,000 bail.
In that case, police initiated their investigation after they received a report that the girl was missing. It led to charges being laid against Armstrong in December 2006.
In this latest case, the Alberta Integrated Child Exploitation Team, made up of officers from various police forces, said it began an undercover investigation in May after a tip from a citizen that a man was trying to engage girls in sexually explicit conversations and trying to meet them.
The probe included the use of an online investigator, police said.
Armstrong is currently in police custody.
