The shooting of two men at a northeast Calgary gas station was a targeted attack in a gang war that appears to be escalating, police said Friday.
The pair were sitting in a black Honda Accord at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Domo Gas bar in the Castleridge Mall when someone walked up and opened fire, Insp. Frank Farkas said.
At least six bullet holes were found in the passenger-side window of a black car parked at a northeast gas station.

A 23-year-old man is in critical condition at the Foothills Hospital, while an 18-year-old man is in serious condition.
Police will not release the victims' names but said Friday they are well known to the force's gang enforcement team.
The evening shooting "highlights the blatant disregard gang members have for innocent people," police said in a news release, adding several units —including the organized crime section — continue to investigate the incident.
Hours after the shooting, the victims' car was still idling with the passenger door open and at least six bullet holes in the window.
Police taped off the gas station as well as a fried chicken outlet next door as part of their investigation.
One man, who said he was too nervous to give his name, told CBC News he was smoking outside Woody's Taphouse nearby when he saw the shooting happen and then the gunman take off on foot.
