Calgary police are warning parents in the southwest to keep their children indoors after two bears were spotted in two days.

A black bear was seen in the 200 block of Discovery Place late Monday afternoon. Police say the bear entered an open garage, pulled out a bag of garbage and started eating the contents.

The bear, believed to be one year old, took off into a wooded area behind the homes when it saw someone walking by.

Police are asking residents to keep their garbage inside and their garage doors closed until the bear is found.

This was the second bear to be spotted in the southwest. On Sunday night, an adult black bear wandered into the Rockyview Hospital.

It then ran across 14th Street and climbed a tree. Wildlife officers tranquilized the bear and released it outside the city.
