Several victims were taken to hospital following a serious crash on Springbank Road on Sunday.

At around 5:30 p.m. MT, Calgary EMS were called to the scene of a crash on Springbank Road at Range Road 32.

"Upon the arrival of paramedics, they were presented with a motor vehicle collision involving three SUVs this evening, yielding a total of 10 patients," said Adam Loria, a spokesperson with Calgary EMS.

Of those 10 patients, Loria says one child was taken to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition.

Two other children children were rushed to hospital in serious, but stable condition. A fourth child was transported by STARS air ambulance to the Alberta Children's Hospital.

Loria says four adults were also taken to hospital. Two others were unharmed.

A total of eight ambulances responded to the call, in addition to police and firefighters. Loria described the crash as "significant."

"It's a very scary time for all involved but — from an EMS perspective — we were focused and knew that a number of people were hurt and did require treatment and transport to hospital."
