A Calgary senior who gave police a purse she had found containing $10,000 is moving from a homeless shelter into an apartment thanks to donations.
The woman, who did not want to be named, has a new home this month and has been reunited with her cat.
"I love it. It’s great being here and of course to get my cat back that was a big part of it," she said.
The purse was left behind by someone driving away from a downtown building last fall. Despite her desperate circumstances, the senior took it to her case worker and they called the police to return it.
"I was never sure what I would do in a situation like that and I found out I did the right thing and I really like myself for it."
The owners of the purse, a couple from Edmonton, gave her a reward and a trust fund was set up on her behalf.
