The producers of Diablo, an independent movie which will be shot in Alberta next year, are raising money by offering "movie tourism" incentives to investors.
"They are pretty sexy. I have to say its a pretty unique opportunity to fall in the laps of Albertans," says Shana Wilson, the film's producer.
"For investment in what is a very solid business plan you also get some real bells and whistles including being an actor ... you can ride on a private jet with Scott Eastwood to the Los Angeles Hollywood premiere, you can play a round of golf at Pebble Beach with Scott Eastwood, you can have a private dinner in your home, catered dinner, with Scott Eastwood, you can come to all the cast and crew parties."

The movie is offering perks in several different packages says Wilson.
"You can enter either for $150,000, $250,000 or $500,000 — so clearly we're targeting high net-worth individuals."
Wilson says it is a great opportunity to invest in something unique.
"This is the business of making movies. We are in this to make money just like any other investment and then at the same time they get a life experience, so something very different comes with this investment than investing in just a typical 'nother oil and gas firm or buying another piece of property."
Different than crowdsourcing
Lawrence Roeck is the director of the film and he thinks it creates a different relationship with investors.
"We really want our investors to be able to touch and feel the production and be a part of it."
Roeck says this type of fundraising allows donors to have a "quantifiable experience," which is different than crowdsourcing sites like Kickstarter.
"But at the end of the investment they also own a part of the movie and they receive profits from the film as its released out to the world, and you get to go to the premiere and you see your name as one of the executive producers and you truly did get that movie made."
Scott Eastwood legacy
They have already been green lit but they would like to see more funding because of the buzz around the film, says Wilson.
"Lawrence is in L.A. right now shopping around for casting directors and he is overwhelmed by the fact that the best casting directors in the world want to be with Diablo because they understand the power of the Scott Eastwood legacy."
Wilson says Eastwood is primed to become a star.
"Think about the fact that Clint Eastwood, the most iconic western figure in the world, his son who looks like him, walks like him, talks like him, is taking over his legacy and starting a new genre of contemporary western."
"In 'Hollywood-land' that's huge because that means franchise, that means Diablo 1, Dos Diablo, Tres Diablo."
Roeck says he was very impressed with Eastwood and is confident in his abilities. "We really believe in Scott and there's a reason why I'm investing so much time and effort behind him. He really is the continuation of that legacy."
Wilson wants investors to help represent Alberta.
"Fifty-one Academy Awards have been won by films that were made in Alberta. How many of those were owned by Albertans? Zero. It's time Albertans get their fair share."
