Safety equipment prevented injuries in 3-vehicle crash, police say
Seat belts, air bags and child seats prevented serious injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on QE2 Saturday night, police say.
Police said two SUVs had stopped on the shoulder between Olds and Didbury when a northbound minivan clipped the rear one before colliding with the other.
The minivan careened back into traffic and hit a pickup truck pulling a utility trailer.
A female passenger in one of the SUVs had to be extricated from the vehicle by EMT personnel. She and another person in the SUV were taken to hospital in Calgary, treated and released.
There were no injuries to those in the second SUV or to the two men in the pickup.
A man, a woman and four boys between the ages of four and nine in the minivan were taken to hospital in Olds, treated and released. Three other people were uninjured.
